I’d like to share some kickass music I recent connected with through the New York social media underground. Songwriter Dave Stovall‘s amazing ambient instrumental music (which I find perfect for yoga). Highly spiritual and relaxing zen ambiance that will get your foot tapping, and your mind spinning in the right direction.
Dave calls the genre ’21st Century’ and I couldn’t agree more. There is nothing to compare his style to. You can feel the New York influence, the old jazz masters, the modern feelings. Dave is a known New York City musician on the scene, working with the ‘Sesame Cake’ record label.
In one of his recent music videos Stovall walks around NYC in a red bathrobe accompanied by “Special Special” from “Dave is in a Meeting”. This encompasses Dave’s satirical side. The music is playful and exploratory while staying aesthetically and culturally relevant. Dave cites his influences as being ‘feelings, going outdoors, walking and thinking, thinking about how animals think, soft clothing, focus on breathing’ also ‘steering boats, turtle watching, horse drawn carriage, campbells soup’. Dave is life- a living breathing musical expression. Check out his facebook fan page, and make sure you catch one of his live performances if you are in the New York area. You won’t be disappointed.
